A Wool Journey
Azimuth is a limited edition collection of 12 single sided wool rugs, handwoven on a horizontal loom in Bulgaria in a collaboration with Studio Dzev. Carpet weaving has deep roots on the Balkans. Some of Bulgaria's traditional methods of weaving carpets has been recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage. "Carpet weaving is deeply integrated into the social and cultural life of the population."
The name of this collection is derived from the term azimuth - an angular measurement in a spherical coordinate system. The word exist is all European languages today and originates from the plural form of the Arabic noun"السَّمْت" as-samt, meaning "the direction". The collection is an attempt to connect past, present, and future; the East, West, North, and South, while preserving what matters from the past and inviting what is necessary for the future.

Whoever sitteth on this carpet and willeth in thought to be taken up and set down upon other site will, in the twinkling of an eye, be borne thither, be that place nearhand or distant many a day’s journey and difficult to reach.”
